Who we are
Calc-X is a personal and family finance app operated by Dinu Daniel, Kerala, India ("we", "us"). For any privacy question or request, write to support@calc-x.in.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes by our sign-in provider.
- Money details you add or import: transactions, account names with the last 4 digits of account or card numbers, balances, bills, budgets, goals, investments and PF balances.
- Family: if you create or join a family, the names and emails of its members, and the expenses you mark as Family or Shared.
We do not collect full card or account numbers, CVVs, PINs, OTPs, net-banking or broker passwords.
Bank SMS, UPI alerts and statements
- Android (SMS edition): only if you turn it on, Calc-X reads bank SMS on your phone. OTPs, promotions and personal messages are ignored. The SMS text is not uploaded or stored; only the transaction is saved (amount, date, merchant, account and category). It reads only messages that arrive after you turn it on.
- UPI app notifications (Android): only if you turn it on and allow notification access, Calc-X reads payment notifications from UPI and bank apps on your phone. Other apps' notifications are ignored. Only the transaction is saved.
- iPhone Shortcut: if you set up the Calc-X Shortcut, the text of a bank SMS is sent to our server so it can be turned into a transaction. Only the transaction is saved; the message text is not kept.
- Bank statements: PDF, Excel or CSV statements are read on your device. Only the transactions are saved, not the file.
Investment connections
If you connect a broker or mutual fund service, you sign in on that provider's own page. We receive read-only access to your holdings and store the access token needed to refresh them. We never see your password and cannot place orders or move money.
AI features
- Auto-categorise: to suggest a category, the name of a shop or business (never a person's name) may be sent to Anthropic's Claude AI.
- Finlo assistant: when you ask Finlo a question, your question and a summary of the relevant figures (such as balances, spending and bills) are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to write the answer.
Anthropic processes this data to provide the answer and, under its commercial terms, does not use it to train its models.
How we use your data
- To show your balances, spending, bills, Safe to Spend, reports and net worth.
- To send reminders you ask for, such as bill due dates.
- To share the items you choose with your family members.
- To keep your account secure and fix problems.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers below.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored with Supabase (database and sign-in) on servers in Seoul, South Korea, and the website is served by Vercel. Data is encrypted in transit, and each person's records are protected so that only they (and family members, for items they share) can read them. Service providers we use: Supabase, Vercel, Google (sign-in), and Anthropic (AI features).
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account and your financial data within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw your consent, and raise a grievance. You can switch off SMS reading and UPI notifications in Settings at any time. To make a request, email support@calc-x.in from the email address on your account; we reply within 7 days.
Children
Calc-X is meant for people aged 18 and over.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and tell you in the app for important changes.
